Welcome!


The 2008 Joint Assembly—a partnership among AGU, AAGG, CIGMEX, GS, MSA, SBGf, SEG, SPD/AAS and UMEC—is being held 27–30 May 2008 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Broward County Convention Center, located at 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Program Committee is developing a Union-wide science program that will cover topics in all areas of geophysical sciences. Located in sunny Florida, the Joint Assembly is sure to offer exciting sessions and a relaxing atmosphere.

AGU is now accepting session proposals. The deadline for submitting session proposals is 31 October 2007.

· AGU is an international scientific society of over 50,000 members that fosters high-quality scientific research in the understanding of Earth and atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic, space and planetary sciences.

· The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development of natural resources, in characterizing the near-surface, and in mitigating earth hazards.
· The Asociación Latinoamericana de Paleomagnetismo y Geomagnetismo (LATINMAG) is a Latin-American Collaborative Network in geo, paleo, rock, and environmental magnetism
· The Centro Regional de Sismologia para America del Sur (CERESIS) is dedicated to promoting seismology.
· The Sociedad Geologica de Chile (SGCH) is dedicated to promoting high quality research, education, and outreach activities in the geosciences.
· The Solar Physics Division of the American Astronomical Society (SPD/AAS) advances the study of the Sun and promotion of coordination of such research with other branches of science. The AAS promotes the advancements of astronomy and closely related branches of science.
· The Union Geofisica Mexicana (UGM) promotes the cooperation between scientific organizations whose objectives include the promotion of the knowledge of geophysical disciplines.
· The Unión Mexicana para Estudios del Cuaternario (UMEC) is dedicated to promoting and fostering research, educational, and outreach activities in the Quaternary Sciences.
